please help.....

1.Susan donates money to flood victims.
2.Susan donates some money to the flood victims.

The sentence has to be written according to a picture and the picture shows a girl putting some money into the donation box and the words that must be used are 'donates' and 'flood victims'
Which sentence is correct?

I have come across this exercise and I wrote no.1, I was marked wrong.
Could someone please explain to me?

Thus the box would instantly be recognized as associated with the flood victims. Therefore the definite article is used because this is a specific flood that everyone is aware of. So 2 is the answer here
