Please help

can anyone help me figure out what's wrong with this sentence "Some students consider such restrictions unnecessary and as an insult to their maturity"

The obvious mistake is the absence of a full stop at the end of the sentence. Some people don't like the as after and , but others have nothing against it. I would omit it.
