The grammar I know would call it a relative pronoun, I think. I assume you would call it a subordinator. Is that right?

Hmm. I don't know for sure, but I didn't think the that of a cleft construction was the same as the relative pronoun that, even in traditional grammar. Frankly, I have no idea what to call it.
