H,

"The ones standing in the back shoved their way to the front, sending a woman carrying an infant to fall on her butt."

It sounds OK.

Please note that some people don't consider '****' a polite word.

Best wishes, Clive

It's fine. I prefer not to use 'ones', as I do not like to make 'one' plural. I suggest 'those' or 'those people'. Personal choice, is all.

What makes you think the woman was breast-feeding? The original version just says "carrying an infant." Believe me, there's a difference!

H,

Please note that some people don't consider '****' a polite word.

But (no pun intended) it's better than A-$ $.

Sorry I posted both posts. I first did it without logging in and didn't think that it went through so I then logged in and re-posted, adding "the breast-feeding" stuff.

Hi,

I see '****' as an Americanism. Don't let's forget the British '***'.
