Some people believe that depending on advice from reliable people is the best way to broaden your life perspective, while others are in favor of learning from personal experience. From my standpoint, I align myself with the latter opinion. This essay will make a comparison of the benefits between two ways of learning and elaborate on the rationales behind my preference.

There are several reasons for the agreement on learning about life through other people’s experiences. Firstly, it is considered one of the fastest ways to improve one’s skills. For example, if you want to know how to make a delicious meal, the easiest way is to ask for your mother’s instructions. Secondly, it can reduce considerably the risk of getting into troublesome situations. When you pay attention to how people get hurt, you may be aware of what you need to do to protect yourself from both mental and physical pain.

However, I think that developing yourself from your own experience is preferable. Firstly, the more experience you gain yourself, the deeper you understand your prospects and limits. For example, a med student needs to do an internship to know whether they are capable of doing their job as a professional doctor. Secondly, engaging yourself in various kinds of activities will help to sharpen your problem-solving skills. As a result of this, you may have the potential to quickly come up with effective solutions in challenging circumstances.
