The picture illustrates how water moves from ocean to air to land during the natural process known as the water cycle.
Overall, there are three primary stages: water evaporates, falls as rain, and runs back into the ocean eventually.
In detail, the first stage begins when the sun’s heat causes water to evaporate into vapor, which subsequently condenses to form clouds. In this stage, the ocean provides roughly 80% of the water vapor in the air. In the second stage, the heavy clouds cause rain or snow. At the third stage in the cycle, rainwater may take various paths. Some of it falls into lakes or return to the oceans through ‘surface runoff.’ Otherwise, rainwater can be absorbed by the ground, reaching the impervious layer of the earth. It is shown that saltwater intrusion occurs just right before groundwater enters the seas to end the cycle.
