The line graph reveals the variation in fertility in China and the USA over the course of 80 years starting from 1920.
As can be seen from the graph, the birth rates in both countries fluctuated dramatically prior to the 1950s and then experienced a downward trend for the rest of the given time frame.
Increasing from 10 percent in 1920 to 15 percent in 1935, China birth rates then plunged by 10 percent and stay at 5 percent in the 1940s. After that, in 1950, it rose considerably and reach a peak of 20 percent before experienced a sharp drop by a half just 5 years latter. For the rest of the period, the fertility in China decline steadily.
Likewise, There was a slight variation in the birth rates in the USA from 1920 to 1940, standing somewhere around 12 percent and 14 percent. This was followed by a dramatic decline, with the country fertility reached its lowest point at 5 percent in 1945.Then, the figure soar to 15 percent in 1950. Finally, in the second half of the period, the USA birth rates saw a similar trend of decreasing as that of China.
