Essay & Composition Writing

Please give feedback on my essay. Thank you very much!

Whether or not someone achieves their aims is mostly by a question of luck. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

----

Though many sometimes subconsciously attribute attainments to luck, that luck is never enough to get one to success is what I have long believed in, and I am not going to change my mind.

Those taking the view that luck is of paramount importance in one's success will fail to prove what they believe with a concrete evidence, and at the same time belittle the hard effort that person has had to display over a long period of time in achieving his or her goals. Diva Whitney Houston and singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Prince in numerous interviews continuously said that they had had to spend roughly 10 hours a day in 10 years practicing and honing their skills before they acquired international acclaim. Another telling example is of the invention of the light bulb by Thomas Newton, who revealed that he had experimented more than 1,000 times before success came to him. As a matter of fact, people cannot ever depend on luck for the most part of their success.

Another angle should be noted here is that to say success is mostly determined by luck is an excuse often made by unsuccessful people in an attempt to explain away their laziness and lack of determination which altogether contribute to failure. This is best exemplified by the case of Aaron Carter, a used-to teenage star, who seems to have never pushed his career closer to the benchmark of success by an inch since his last album in 2006. He is very often caught partying at night clubs and thoroughly enjoying himself at such places and cares not of his already-collapsed career.

In conclusion, I am heavily convinced that only by hard work and a spirit of determination do we achieve the success of our life.
