Please, get me out of this confusion.

Hello, great peope there. Today I would like to ask about different usage of "forget about and forget". I know that there are some great questions and answers posted here before, but I am still confused because some teachers say there is no real difference but others say they are simiar but different.

So, how can I understand this different opinions?

Do you think there is a difference between "Do not forget the birthday party and do not forget about the birthday party"?

Thank you for taking your time as always.
