Please find error in the follwing sentence.

What is/are the errors in following sentence, and please explain the reason for the same:

In 1527 King Henry VIII sought to have his marriage to Queen Catherine annulled so as to marry Anne Boleyn.

That what I had intially thought to. But the book I am refering to (OG) suggests the following:

So as to marry is not idiomatically correct; it does not identify who will marry

But i could make any sense out of this suggested reasoning.

So please suggest...

The phrase seems fine to me, and I don't see any confusion in the sentence.



Perhaps the writer is thinking that, in theory, it sounds like Catherine is to marry Anne.

I don't agree. Henry is the implict subject of the phrase.
