In many cities, an increasing number of people do not know their neighbors and the sense of community is lost. Discuss the causes and give measures to turn it around?

Rapid population growth has led to a subsequent concern in the increasingly fierce workforce, resulting in the deteriorating social interactions and losing the sense of community. There are several causes to this problem and some solutions should be taken into consideration.

There are two obvious reasons why people no longer concern about communicating with friends living next door. First of all, high pressure from higher living standard can lead to the frequency of long working hours according to parents, causing only focusing on family bonds and working relations in lieu of socializing with neighbors. In terms of children, due to facing more hectic studying schedules and high academic completion at school, they also scarcely have leisure time to go outside and have a conversation with people living around. Secondly, the shortage of communal spaces in locality can change people’s external connection habits because government and authority tend to plan commercial and residential areas to gain profits. As a result, people are forced to stay secluded at homes and even are likely to get stuck in a sedentary lifestyle.

Several actions could be taken to increase the outdoor association. One way to address this is to ensure that right balance work-life plays a contributing factor in improving social interaction. In other words, when inhabitants have spare extra time, they could tend to involve them in outdoor world. Subsequently, building more parks, social gathering places, community centers and children’s playgrounds by local authority in the community could be an effective measure to let people socialize and know each other. This solution would hopefully enhance their neighboring bonds and relationships.

In conclusion, there are some reasons why neighboring connections are becoming less common in today’s world and solutions should be produced early to bring back sense of social belonging.
