please explain these lines

the Lightning—never asked an Eye
Wherefore it shut—when He was by—
Because He knows it cannot speak—
And reasons not contained—
—Of Talk—
There be—preferred by Daintier Folk—

The Sunrise—Sire—compelleth Me—
Because He's Sunrise—and I see—
Therefore—Then—

You can't possibly look at a lightning flash, without shutting your eyes, therefore He (the lightning) doesn't ask the eye for an explanation of why it closes. For the eye cannot speak and even if it did, it would be pointless. ( And reasons not contained—of Talk) I am not sure what the definition of "Daintier folk" is, but I think it means that reasoning and a need for superfluous words is preferred by "refined" people.

  • For the same reason the sunrise compels (has such a force on) her (at least I think compelleth means that); it is almost as if she is telling him that she loves him for the exact same reason why the day begins with the sunrise.

The lightning doesn't ask the eye why it closes when HE(the lightning) is near.You can't possibly look at a lightning flash, without shutting your eyes, therefore He (the lightning) doesn't ask the eye for an explanation of why it closes. For the eye cannot speak and even if it did, it would be pointless. It conveys that love simply is and there is no need to look for
