Please explain

Hi,

"The wife pokes her head out of the window but doesn’t see his husband. After the wife leaves, the girlfriend and the wife's husband rejoice that they were not discovered and pulled one over on the wife."

What does 'pulled one over on the wife' mean here?

"She pays a visit to John and doesn’t mix words when demanding to him that he can not be a part of Mary's life."

What does 'mix words' mean here?

Thanks a lot.

Hi, You haven't worded these idioms quite correctly. "The wife pokes her head out of the window but doesn’t see her his husband. " To put one over on someone means to trick them successfully.
