The diagram details two measures that could be used for the prevention of floods in a given village.
Overall, the key difference between the two solutions is where changes take place. It is to say that there is a choice between the relocation of three infrastructures including a residential area, industrial park, and commercial buildings, and the installation of two reservoirs in two rivers A and B. Despite being effective, however, both of them have certain drawbacks.
According to the first illustration, three infrastructures situate in the flood-prone areas; therefore, they become the first three places likely to be seriously damaged when the flood comes. As a result, the easiest way to prevent the disaster from affecting them is to move those constructions far away from the riverbank. Although this solution is environmentally friendly, it puts a strain on the economy.
The second method, on the other hand, is considered more efficient than the first one. Concerning long-term effect, however, it may undermine the land nearby because of the construction of two reservoirs to store a large amount of water at the end of river A and the bank to the side amidst the industrial park and the commercial buildings of the river B.
