Some people think that good health is a basic human need, so the medical service should not be run by profit-making companies. Do you think the disadvantages of private health care outweigh the advantages?
It is believed that healthiness is one of the rights of human beings, and therefore, health services should not be operated by profit-oriented organizations. As private health care is becoming increasingly popular, there are some benefits as well as drawbacks that it offers, and I believe that these drawbacks are outweighed by the benefits.
On the one hand, there are two major disadvantages of private healthcare. From an economic perspective, the cost of treatment in private healthcare centers is much higher than that of in public ones, which could only be afforded by the rich and, as a consequence, further the gap between the rich and the poor. The second disadvantage is that the quality may be suffered if profits determine treatment decisions. Doctors who work in these profit-making organizations tend to unethical and just want to raise the cost of the treatment through things such as unnecessary tests performed. This often leads to the patience’s sickness getting worse and worse.
On the other hand, I am convinced that the benefits of private health systems are more significant than such disadvantages. The main reason is that they have a shorter waiting list for examinations and operations than ones supported financially by the governments. If someone in urgent situations, they do not have to wait for hours to see the doctors in government-owned health care centers; instead, they could visit private ones and accelerate the process. Furthermore, some private healthcare often provides aids to remote areas where health care is not accessible. For example, Thanh Xuan private hospital goes to mountain villages in Vietnam and takes care of the villagers for free at the beginning of the year.
In conclusion, my conviction is that private healthcare, despite having economic and quality downsides, does more good than harm to society by shorter waiting lists and provide free healthcare services.
It is believed generally agreed that healthiness health is one of most important aspects in life. In fact, some would consider it a the basic righ t of all human beings, and therefore, they argue that health services should not be operated provided by profit-oriented organizations. As private healt hc are is becoming increasingly popular, there are some benefits as well as drawbacks that it offers, and but I believe that these drawbacks are outweighed by the benefits.
