Hello,

I am Mari, 20 years old student living in Georgia. With this letter I would like to apply for participation as a volunteer in EVS Barcelona. Currently, I am studying Arts in Tbilisi State Academy of Arts on design faculty. Art is a big part of my life and painting is the best way to express about myself. Besides, I am so in love with Spain and Spanish culture and working a whole year as a volunteer there has already become dream of my life.

It has always been my big passion to work as a volunteer and once I knew about EVS I realized that’s it is a great opportunity to get involved in social life. I come from Gori, a small town in Georgia. During the August 2008 my town has been bombed by Russian troops. Even nowadays nearby territory is occupied. The war’s arisen many difficulties for young generation. I have met young people with less knowledge of EU policies. They don’t know their rights. They don’t have an opportunity to develop their career. So I know what it means when someone gives you a helping hand and prompts you to have a successful life. That’s why I want to be a volunteer so much. EVS projects can give me a valuable experience and knowledge about EU youth policies which I can use later to set up some volunteering programs in less developed regions of Georgia.

I have been participating in some activities supporting youth development (exhibitions, photo/painting contests) and one thing I love about it is that I learn so much from people I meet. I strongly believe that to participate in social work, in a program like EVS, is the best way to develop my personal and professional skills. First of all, I feel I need to enrich my culture, meet people from different social groups and youth with different cultural background. Working with them on various educational and social projects sounds so exciting to me. I am so enthusiastic and ready to devote myself to implement these projects in order to make a really significant impact on youth society.

What about my professional interest in this volunteering service, I would like to say that it will definitely influence a lot on my artworks. I am sure that to experience different society will give me a new inspiration and open wide doors into new world and new life for me. Besides, I believe that the art is the easiest way to reach people’s mind and heart. I will actively use my artificial skills during workshops to reach my audience. Moreover, my hardworking, creative, active and enthusiastic personality makes me so proper for this job. Also, one more thing that makes me appropriate person for EVS volunteering is my good adaptation ability. I can easily adjust to any working environment. Cultural shock and difficulties concern to living abroad is not such a big deal for me. So I am sure I will feel like a home in Spain.

I do hope that I will get the chance to improve my knowledge as well as contribute this project with my hard work. Look forward starting this life-changing experience.
