Juvenile delinquency has become a highly debated contemporary issue in most part of the world. Several culprits are believed to give rise to this trend which require the government and the public to adopt immediate measurement to mitigate the adverse effects.
There are several contributing factors of teenagers’ repeated committing to crimes. Firstly, lack of proper education is one of the causes. A number of recorded criminal reports have shown that the crime rate is highest among children from disadvantaged or impoverished families who are not entitled to go to school. Consequently, they may not able to acknowledge the severity and sequels of their ill-behaviors. In addition, many teenagers today make offences for the sake of self-recognition and attention. For instance, many families in the fast-paced society only put a premium on making money with ignorance of their children’s well-being and overall development. As a result, these juveniles perceive offences as a method to get their parents’ attention and consideration.
Considering the ubiquity as well as severity of this trend, equivalent penalties should be granted to these juvenile criminals. For teenagers committing minor crimes for the first time, they should be left with a warning. However, strict measurements must be taken in more serious cases. For instance, children who involve in robbery, public destruction and traffic accident should be given vocational training and may take part in humanity associations under the observation of the police. Nevertheless, imprisonment would seem to be an equal and reasonable punishment applied to teen murder.
In conclusion, I believe that teenagers are more prone to engage in criminal activities on account of proving their selves and inadequate educational training. According, the onus lies with both the government and individuals to minimize the teen crime rates.
