There are six main stages in the life cycle of salmon, beginning with salmon eggs and ending with adult salmon.
Firstly, salmon eggs are born at the bottom of upper river which has slow moving. Afterwards, they are hidden under small stones, which are surrounded by reeds for better self-protection. In the next five to six months, eggs are hatched and they are called fry with 3 to 8 cm in length. Following this, baby salmon are moved to fast-flowed water area called lower river.
After approximately four years, salmon’s body are lengthened up to 12 to 15 cm and their name are smolt. Subsequently, smolt change their location to open sea. After 5-year period under the sea, they become adult salmon with their length fluctuated from 70 to 76 cm. And in their lifespan, they must find a mate to lay their eggs to begin the salmon life cycle all over again.
