In general, over the 50-year period, India’s population seems to be ascending at a steady space, whereas China is expected to witness a continuous increase and hit a peak in 2030 then begin to fall. A highlight of the graph is that India and China record the same population data in the year 2030.

In 2000, the population of China was significantly higher in comparison with that of India. The number of Chinese was 1.25 billion, whereas India’s population stood at 1 billion. In the next two decades, China’s citizens rose steadily to reach just above 1.4 billion people in 2020. Over the same period, India’s population curve saw a remarkable increase of around 0.4 billion.

As can be seen from the figure, the estimations after 2020 show that on one hand, China’s population remains somewhere around 1.45 billion until 2035, after which it is likely to fall gradually, reaching 1.4 billion by 2050. On the other hand. India’s population will probably experience a remarkable rise and hit 1.6 billion in 2050. It is in 2030 that India and China are both forecasted to have 1.45 billion people living in their country, according to the experts.
