Letter Writing

Please, could somebody review my motivation letter?

Good evening everyone, I gonna apply for RWTH Aachen University. Can somebody identify some grammar and other mistakes and give me some advices in making up of this letter?

Letter of motivation

From the beginning of my conscious life, I have been highly fascinated by beauty of technique - automobiles, aircrafts, weapons, and so on. My initial funny experience was with meccano. When I was 7-years old, I constructed for the first time car and little swings from little metallic details, and after that hobby I actually found myself devoted to machinery and mechanisms. But I also try to discover something new through painting and drawing, especially in war historical themes. I discovered important fact – engineering is like a painting, during this process, you feel yourself almost free into assigned limits. It is very creative profession, which involves all of your talents and fantasy.

When I was in the 7th year of school, I had an interest in subjects, which are interconnected with technical specialization – physics, drawing, chemistry, geography, geometry, technology. And in that time I already considered application for a special educational institution, which could allow me to achieve better comprehension of technical subjects. Thus, after my successful graduation of lower secondary school in 2007, I enrolled to XXX. During my 4 years of tuition there, I considerably enlarged my notions about industry and mechanical engineering. Most interesting moment was my 2-month internship in the 2nd course at XXX as metalworker. There I found out that only by means of practical experience I can acquire many important and special knowledge, which I would never get via theory.

Without any doubts, after perfect college graduation and acquisition of technician qualification, I decided to get a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering. I enrolled in XXX. My punctuality and persistence helped me adapt to new conditions and rules. Since first year of university during any technical and even non-technical classes I always asked faculties for additional clarifications. Every new discipline just enflamed my aspiration to a scientific knowledge. As a result, in the second semester faculty members suggested me to work in department’s mechanical laboratory as lab assistant. It was a great honor for me and despite the fact that I was insufficiently experienced for such job, my college education allowed me to be well adapted in the first few months of working there. My responsibility was in assistance for instructors in performing of lab works, maintaining of metalworking machines and other laboratory equipment in adequate conditions, help for faculty members in making of handouts and educational supply. I have worked there during 3 years and now this expertise significantly amplified my perception about engineering. In my Mechanical Engineering B.Sc program I gained valuable skills in application software – Visual Basic, Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Access), AutoCAD 2010, MathCAD 15, MasterCAM X3, SolidWorks. Despite my department’s educational program, consisted in deep specialization in mechanical treatment and materials, I also had such courses as Thermodynamics, Electrical engineering and Electronics, Fluid mechanics, Aerodynamics, which have highly interested me too. Recently, I have completed my first half of graduation qualification project of bachelor. It concluded in projecting of part of technological process for manufacturing of detail for gas-turbine engine which calls as XXX. Due to my striving for a perfect and qualitative execution, I was evaluated by my scientific supervisor with a highest grade. After 2nd and 3rd years, I had internship in the XXX again, but in the another workshop as a technician. I was assistant of engineer and was liable for preparing of technological processes for manufacturing of big details of the XXX.

However, I am interested not only by studying and painting. I have a great willing for traveling and communication with foreigners. And since 2013 year I have twice participated in XXX volunteer projects in Germany. My first project «Energy Recycling – Bicycle Creativity» was in august 2013 in XXX. During 3 weeks me and other 16 people all over the world along with many locals worked there. The main idea was using of old bikes to create art and leisure constructions. Momentous thing for me was that I got interesting and suitable professional practice in metalworking, welding, design, painting. What is more – it was my first trip in Germany and I realized that features of native people – politeness, perseverance, integrity are very compatible with my character. My second project XXX was in 2014 at suburbs of XXX, consisted in taking care about German ecology, we preserved moors by removing of invasive species, mostly pine, preventing over 200 insect species from risk of extinction. Now I personally think that these two volunteer camps seriously helped me to be closer acquainted with country where I want to pursue a Master’s Degree in Automotive Engineering.

Aside from volunteer projects, I also have taken part in sport events. For instance, I was a member of college’s volleyball team, and contribution in a few winnings in championships between educational institutions was my huge pleasure.

I wish to apply for Automotive Engineering M.Sc. program in RWTH Aachen university because of the next reasons. Firstly, I have a great willing to get a better practical base in my education. After my searches of Master’s degree programs in Russia, Germany and other countries, I recognized that only RWTH Aachen University could provide most suitable and modern equipment for study. Secondly, I want to slightly change my specialization and try myself in the field of automotive engineering. Nowadays, I think, automobile industry is more prospective in the world’s market, rather than aircraft engine industry. In future, humanity will need more in convenient and environmentally friendly ground transportation, than in war aviation. Moreover, auto industry can provide better chances for a job finding. Even though I haven’t got enough internship in auto industry, I hope to compensate it via attending a XXX module, offered by Institute for Automotive engineering (ika). Also, I have desire to contribute in university’s life and history, participating in volunteer programs, cultural events. Lastly, I dream to participate in development of German automotive industry, providing smartest of the solutions to the crucial issues. From my early childhood, I have often watched videos about auto manufacturing in such factories as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and was incredibly attracted by aesthetics and neatness of workshops, robotechnics, machines there. In my viewpoint, Germany has a leadership in this technical field and I hope that I will obtain a unique chance to help for a further industrial advancement of this country.
