Most countries want to improve the standard of living through economic development, however, others think the social value is lost as a result. Discuss both views and give an opinion. (HARD)
It is true that whether the living standard should be improved via the flourishment of economics or the cost of social is a subject of debate. While reasons can be given to justify the former, I am in favor of the latter.
On the one hand, there are strong reasons to think that why economic growth is seen as a fundament goal for countries. From an economic perspective, a healthy economy plays a vital role in progressing job creation, a high level of employment, and better salaries for all citizens. Furthermore, governments reap the benefits of economic enhancement due to the fact that when they have more money available to spend on infrastructure and public services. In addition, if a country has a strong economy, it would help them stand on the global stage, in terms of its political influence and trading power. For example, authorities with higher revenues can contribute to not only being the transport network will improve, but also its education system and its hospital will be invested.
On the other hand, others would argue that the social value is lost as a result. The first prominent justification is that by developing economies, which leads to the area of social justice, human rights, equality, and democracy itself may be forgotten. Secondly, the most striking point is that how well that country protects the natural environment. Finally, the success of the nation measured by looking at the health, well-being, and happiness of its residents. For instance, the treatment of minority groups is often seen as a reflection of the moral standards and level of development of a society.
In conclusion, for the reasons mentioned above, although the economic growth makes an outstanding contribution to improving the living standard, it seems to me that we should not forget the cost of social due to its worth.
