please correct this sentence in my letter

Hi, Could you let me know whether my sentence is correct please ?

"Given that quite a long time has now gone by since the facts happened, we would like to kindly inform you that we no longer consider the acts for which we had requested your intervention as useful".

Maybe this: Given the significant amount of time that has passed since the initial incident, we would like to inform you that your requested intervention would no longer prove useful. Sounds a bit sarcastic. " Is that right?

Sounds a bit sarcastic. The subtext seems to be "Thanks a lot for NOTHING!" Is that right?
