While there are more people accessing huge storage of news through the Internet, some people believe that physical newspapers still hold the most vital position among news readers. I find myself in complete disagreement with this idea because besides traditional newspapers, online media is no less important.
On the one hand, it is crystal clear that print newspapers are still in circulation due to some advantages. Firstly, part of the population, especially the elderly, simply just do not adopt changes but rather stick to old goodies. They have been reading traditional newspapers for decades, and there should be no obligation for them to turn to Internet news now.
Secondly, reading the newspaper is a healthy activity for every individual, especially for students. The reason is many difficult words come while reading a passage that might confuse a reader so making a habit of newspaper reading daily increases the chances of better reading with good vocabulary.
On the other hand, it seems logical that the preference of many people now is to read online news over traditional press. To begin with, online newspapers are convenient to access. One can read articles anywhere and anytime as long as there is access to the Internet. Also, online news producers can provide the audiences with real-time updated information, which newspapers can never achieve. In addition, many online newspapers are free while paper and the delivery of a physical product is pricey. As a result, people can save a lot of subscription money by reading from a variety of online news sites. Another factor that leads to the increasing figures for Internet news supporters is the environment. By finding information online instead of purchasing a newspaper, people will save tons of paper and carbon footprint which is the major catalyst for environmental pollution.
In conclusion, despite the fact that printed news still holds an important role, I am more convinced by the idea that they will be soon eclipsed by online news.
