Please correct this

Hi. Please correct this.

I have a feeling that the law we just passed will affect us greatly. 1) That is why I invited Mr. John Doe to come and talk to us about the possible ramifications of it that 2) would possibly have great impact on our daily living situations.

Specfic Questions:

1) Could it be the phrase "That is the reason why" instead of "That is why"?

2) Is the modal "would" correct since we are looking at the future from the past?
