My encounter with a girl I knew in high school in a high school reunion:

There stood a woman I could hardly recongnize, who used to be a girl I went crazy over. She now had wrinkles on her face as to show years that passed (had passed?) by. I couldn't have known who she was if she had had her name tag on her blouse. I approached her gingerly and said "hi" and she said "hi" in return. At the moment of her utterance, I spotted a few twinkles in her eyes that could have been the sign that recongnized who I was, a young boy who had indulged hervwith gifts every time there was a date to be celebrated like Christmas or Arbor's Day. Awkward moments soon followed and I had to say "good-bye" early. Feelings of yesterdays seem never to come back like before when life has like taken its toll with passing time. Everything in life seems to change and never stays the same and it seems any effort to pull back the time is futile. But ... few sparkles I saw in her eyes for a few passing seconds were enough for me to taste the sweet feelings I had of her who was once was the object of my adolescent infactuation.
