Hi,

Please correct this.

Now the national election for Presidency of South Korea is over and a winner is selected, all the anticipation and high drum rolls have been in low ebbs. I wish that the newly elected President of South Korea will get his pre-election agendas rolling and put the not-so-active economy in high gear.

One day, I was listening to his new President giving a sort of religious confession before a viewing public on television and one thing that stuck in my mind is what he told about his mother's visit when he was serving time in prison for what I believed to be a political activity. He told us that while he was in prison, his mother visited him only once and at that time, unlike other mothers, who were spending a lot of time with their sons, I think he said his mother spoke only these words briefly and then left: "Son, are you praying", "Son, are you reading the Bible", and "Son, are you studying?." To me, this confession left a long-lasting impression on me because it reinforced my belief on what a strong mother should be like. A mother need not be vocal, nor does she need to be verbose, to make a lasting impact on her son-- sometimes, short piercing remarks can touch a son's heart more forcefully than any other means of rebuke or discipline.

To me, to rebuke a young person by giving a long lecture on how he should behave is like money not spent wisely. There is no need to talk for a long period of time trying to put some of your sense into your kid: but like money given to him when he needs dearly, few wise words from a mother who has earned her name from a son can move her son heart and make the right impact at the right time to help him to take a right step for the better.
