please correct the sentence(UK English)!!!
Tennis star Sania Mirza hit(s) the nail on the head. "It is difficult to please a nation of one billion people," the exasperated 21-year old saidlast week.
Is this senyence perfect grammatically and also puntuation marks, and it should be hit or hits, why?

I say it's perfect, once you separate "said" and "last."

Hit is correct because it is history. The fact she 'said' it means it is history, the fact there is a photo means it's history. Everything recorded, even 'live', is history. Because journalists try to '...bring the scene to life...' does not mean pragmatics excuses errors of syntax and concordance. A pedant.
