Please correct tense

I just want to know what is the correct tense to write.

The fact that I am having a medical procedure today scares me. I'm looking at the date, that way if I died today, I would know what day I would have died.

Oops. I was concentrating on the tenses, and didn't spot the infelicity of 'I'm having a medical procedure'.
