Essay & Composition Writing

Please correct one sentence for me.

... As I got closer and closer to the finish; however, my body begged me to stop. I ached all over. I wanted to quit. Fortunately, through positive self-talk, I found it in me to keep going.

I tried to find out what the writer tries to express in the last sentence. What does the word "it" mean here? Confidence, sustaining power, or what? Can we replace it with some other word? Please help.
