The line graph compares data from Annual Energy Outlook 2008 about energy consumption in the United States of America from 1980 to 2030.
It can be obviously recognised that most of the energy consumption tended to increase over the surveyed period, excepted for hydropower. US energy consumption by Petrol and Oil was dominant among the 6 types of fuel and has been predicted to remain the leading position to 2030.
It can be observed from the graph that there was 35 quadrillion units of Petrol and Oil consumed in 1980. It was even higher than Natural gas and Coal energy consumption combined. This figure slightly fluctuated within the first 15 years but still maintained upward trend and predicted to reach the peak at under 50 quadrillion units in 2030.
Natural gas and Coal were the second most popular fuel in the US, accounting for 20 and 16 quadrillion units in 1980. The consumption of these energy rose approximately equal to the year 2020, but it have been forecasted that the growth of Coal energy will be faster at the end of the period with 32 and 25 quadrillion units in 2030, respectively.
The amount of Nuclear, Sola/Wind and Hydropower energy consumption were responsible for 3 quadrillion units each in 1980. The demand of these fuel grew unsignificantly and expected that there will not be considerable rise to the end of the surveyed period (not over 10 quadrillion units).
