Topic: What are the causes and effects of poverty on society?

Poverty is an exceptionally complicated social phenomenon and one of the most significant issues in the entire world. The reasons behind indigence fall into protracted conflicts and inadequate education, which bring the negative impacts of decreased economic growth and a high crime rate.

Conflict is one of the most prevalent types of risk that contributes to poverty today. Large-scale, persistent conflict may tear civilization apart, destroy infrastructure and cause people to lose their occupations. People have no job, no shelter, and no adequate consumables. According to statistics, in Syria, more than 80% of the population now lives below the poverty line after ten years of conflict. Another cause of poverty is insufficient education. Lack of education makes individuals not be able to adapt to the progression of the world. Inadequately educated people usually have extremely low-income jobs since they do not have certain sets of skills or knowledge which high-paid occupations require.

Huge negative impact has poverty presented on the economic growth. The poor become a burden for the economy as governments have to spend a huge amount of state budgets on these people. In addition, high rates of low earnings and jobless people lead to a dramatic decrease in tax revenues. Therefore, the total economic growth will be hindered. Another effect of indigence is that it brings a high crime rate. The poor have to struggle for living every day since the living standards are increasing. They are not capable of sufficiently fulfilling their daily needs, such as food and shelter. As a result, many individuals are forced to conduct illegal means of obtaining money. Therefore, the crime rate will highly rise and put citizens in danger of becoming victims of unlawful acts.

In conclusion, poverty has been one of the most challenging obstacles that people confront daily. It occurs due to several reasons, including violent conflicts and insufficient tuition, which have pessimistic impacts on the economy and social security.
