to encourage people to buy local food?

in numerous nations. Indeed, people's preferences are quickly shifting toward
imported food rather than food grown by local farmers. This essay will first look at
some reasons for this tendency and then go over several measures that could be
taken to encourage people to purchase indigenous food.
The first and foremost reason is the easy access to foreign foodstuff. In the
economic integration era, nations may trade goods with great convenience, making
it easier to import foreign cuisine. Individuals, particularly those living in urban areas,
can purchase imported foodstuff, such as canned meals, snacks, and even
vegetation in any supermarkets or department stores. Besides, many people believe
that imported food is safer regarding health-related benefits. Merchants tend to
import foodstuff from developed countries where it is produced in a clean and non-
chemical environment. Moreover, foreign food must go through strict inspection
processes before being imported. As a result, hygiene and food safety basis leads to
the increased consumption of non-native food.
Nevertheless, feasible solutions could be implemented to tackle this issue. First, the
authorities should introduce economic policies which bring privileges to native
products on the food market. For example, if governments lower or exempt taxes on
local goods, domestic producers could offer more affordable pricing to customers. As
a result, the more reasonable prices people get, the more they will buy. Second,
domestic food manufacturers should enhance their food quality, resulting in safer
goods for customers. Therefore, people will be eager to spend more on local cuisine.
In conclusion, it is true to say that the consumption of imported groceries has grown
up in the past years. This tendency occurs because of at least two particular reasons;
however, governments and producers can improve the situation by taking some
proper actions to stimulate customers’ demand for native food.
