Parents should strictly limit the time children spend on sitting in front of a television or a computer screen.
More and more children spend a great deal of time sitting in front of a computer or a television screen. This not only occupies children’s study time, but also damages their development, including their eyesight and body, and personal relationship.
First, children do not have enough time to study schoolwork when they indulge themselves in watching a television or a computer screen. The less time children study, the less intelligence they have. I believe that if children spend more time on reading and thinking, they will become wiser. Especially nowadays, there are so many things we need to learn. Therefore, parents should limit the time children spend on a computer or a television.
Second, children’s eyesight is getting worse and the main reason is that they spend too much time on watching a television or a computer. Most kids cannot control themselves to take a rest for 10 minutes after watching a television or a computer for 30 minutes. It is really harmful to their vision. Moreover, sitting in front of a television or a computer for a long time also damages their health. Everyone knows that sufficient exercise is essential for human beings. Sitting all day without exercise makes people feel tired and uncomfortable. Accordingly, children should go out and play with their friends.
Last, children have fewer friends when they do not interact with others. Many kids have an obsession for watching a television or a computer. They would rather play games or chat online than hang out or get together with friends. After a period, children do not have any friends and do not know how to get along with others because they lose their social skills. Consequently, kids need to spend more time on interacting with friends not machines.
In a word, parents on the front line should take their responsibility to restrict their children’s time to stay with a television or a computer and encourage their children to spend more time on reading good books, doing exercise, and socializing with others.
