Please correct my tenses.

I have a sentence which I am not sure if it is correct.

Say, the party is at 15 April 2011. Today is 2 April 2011. Which of the two sentences below is correct?

He was told that the party was on the 15 April 2011.
or
He was told that the party is on 15 April 2011.

Also which of the 2 sentences below is correct:

Yesterday I told him that the party was on 15 April 2011.
or
Yesterday I told him the party is on 15 April 2011.

You can see that I am confused of whether to use "was" or "is" as the party is in the future (not past yet). Please advise me and correct me. Thank you.

I'd solve the problem with a trick:

He was told that the party was arranged on the 15 April 2011.

Yesterday, I told him that the party was arranged on 15 April 2011.

Hi,

No.
eg On 10 April I decide to have a party on 15 April.
The party was arranged on 10 April.

You could say that the party was arranged for 15 April.

Hi Clive, sorry about this as I am still a bit confused. Bear with me as I just want to be really sure of this. For the sentence below:

He was told that the party was on the 15 April 2011.

Can I really use the past tense "was" to indicate when the party is on as the party is the over yet but in the coming future (15 April 2011)? Or should the below sentence be more

Hi,

'Was' is always OK. 'Is' is also OK, if the party is still in the future, ie if the statement is still true.

That's why we can say things like 'I was taught that the Earth is round'.

Compare 'I was told t
