Essay & Composition Writing

Please, correct my short essay?

I like the rush I get in the metro. It only happens twice a week. I go from the morning tranquility of Sant Gervasi to the frenzy of the station. People rushing, loud noises, bright lights. It's as if time accelerates the moment I enter the station.

I feel adrenaline in my veins, I turn the volume on my music up. "Hold On" by Sons Of The East. Theres a certain irony to it. Folk music and urban surroundings.

I stop moving. I feel people bumping into me. Some say a quick "sorry", others just frown.

I condemn them. For succumbing to society. For falling into routine. For rushing to nothing.
Why are they rushing? The answer is, of course, they've got somewhere to be.

But why are they, really? Hurrying everyday to work and back, sitting in an office all day. Worrying that they will miss this or that train. Anxious that they will be late to this or that meeting. Getting irrationally angry at that lady who is slow.

Morality is forgotten, the objective of life becomes getting to wherever in the shortest amount of time. Its like a race that no one will ever win, and it just keeps repeating day after day.

But I'm a hypocrite, and I capitulate. And I rush, and I bump, and I frown.

Suddenly, my life becomes meaningless. I feel my stomach shrink. Suffocation takes hold, I need to get out of here. A sea of people pushes me onward. I turn and advance in the opposite direction, people stare angrily. I don't want this, I am not like them. I am young, adventurous, spontaneous. But I hear a voice in the back of my mind that keeps telling me I'm a fraud. My ideals flawed.

I convince myself to act on it, yes, I'm going to make a radical change in my life. I will no longer be a slave of monotony.

***

The alarm rings. 7:15 AM. I stop myself from hitting snooze, again, and get up.

I enter the station. Obligation calls.
