Please correct my sentences 3

Would you please correct my sentences?

My father's cookings always taste insipid.

His jokes are insipid.

I'd like to lead a footloose and fancy-free life as long as I'm in this side of the grave.

I want to do myself justice with a perfect lecture before our teacher.

Correct pronunciation brings/carries cachet with it.

Lost honor can't be restored.

Thanks.

So does that mean it is too formal?

Hi,

Not really.

Much depends on where you use it.

eg Are you working on a construction site, digging holes?

eg Are you chatting at a dinner party with several Nobel prize winners?
