Please, correct my sentences.

Hello!

Could you please, correct the sentences below ?

a) "Last year we commemorated (or celebrated ?) the birth of Jesus Christ."

b) "On this holiday he usually gathers his family (here should I say gathers or joins ?)."

c) "During the party all the guests exchanged presents and chocolate eggs."

d) "I always prepare some foods and drinks for everybody."

e) The New Year's Day (or just: New Year's Day ...?) is a special date and it is celebrated (or commemorated ?) everywhere.

f) The old year removes the bad moments and the New Year bears a good time (I think "removes" sounds a bit strange here, isn't it? I suppose if I use "gets rid of" it'll be better. Am I right?).

g)
People all over the world always believe in achievements.

Thanks a lot!
