Overall, while the percentage of people aged over 50 being donors improved after twenty years, that of the younger decreased. In addition, the youngest age group (18-25) had the lowest proportions of people donating money in both years.
In 1990, British people in the age range of 36-50 obtained the largest percentage as donors, about 42%, which was 7% and roughly 10% higher than those of the 51-65 and over-65 respectively. Regarding the two younger age groups, the proportion people giving money to charity in the age of 18 to 25 was barely about 17%, being almost half that of 26 to 35.
After two decades, people aged between 51 and 65 became those having the highest proportion of people donating money to charity (just under 40%). Those in the 36-50 and over-65 age brackets came second with 35% who made donation in 2010. Additionally, the percentage of 18- to 25-year-olds being donors decreased significantly, by more or less 10%, to about 7%. There was also a decline in that of British people between 26 to 35 years old, which stood at roughly 31% in 1990, but had gone down to about 24% in 2010.
