In my thesis I review the complex process of organizing a ball. In the first part of my thesis I introduce the basic theoretical background of the event planning, characteristics of successful events and the most important tasks of event planner. Events can be diverse, but all of them require extremely careful and extensive organizing. In the second part I present the Scout Movement as well as the development of the Hungarian Scout Association in Slovakia and their types of events, because during my work I analyze a ball, which is one of these events. My purpose was to introduce the specific steps in the ball planning process: preparation, organization, implementation and evaluation of the event. In addition I review the planning process of scout ball in practise. The most important duties include devising the event concept, identifying the target audience, selecting the location and the time, creating a timeline, developing a budget. The planning process must be ensure coordination and collaboration among the organizing committees. My thesis gave me the opportunity to introduce that contributing to a successful and effective event is a difficult and rewarding experience at the same time. Finally, I conducted a survey to collect information about the types of people attending our scout ball. Evaluation results have demonstrated that the majority of participants are satisfied with the organization of the ball.
