Essay & Composition Writing

Please correct my essay. Thank you in advance ^^

It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in
books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience
with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source
is more important? Why?

When it comes to the issue of the way to gain knowledge, one debatable issue has been whether it is better to learn from experience or from books. Some scholars think that books can tell whatever people wish to know. Some people, however, believe that learning from the real world is the best way to gain knowledge. These two sources of knowledge have some similarities and differences. In my opinion, I would say that experience is more important because it is more practical and memorable.
First, experience is applied. On the other hand, reading from book is theoretical. Imagine that you need to learn how to swim. You can learn how to swim from theory. Nevertheless, you will only know “how to” method, you will never be able to swim until you go the swimming pool and jump into it. Not only swimming, but there are also tons of activities that you need to learn by starting to do and practicing. In other words, experience is a real tool to teach you and help you be able to do whatever you want, not just a procedure to do so.
Second, experience is what you have learned by yourself. When you are in any situations and you need to solve any problems that you face, you will learn many substantial and various things from each circumstance. In the contrary, when you read from books, you learn from others’ experience. That knowledge is based on others’ decision. You cannot get real feeling because you are not the person who faces it. Basically, what this means is facing and deciding by yourself is a perfect way to learn because it is more remarkable.
In summary, gaining knowledge from books is very assistive. However, gaining from experience is much better because it provide you a realistic situation to practice. Moreover, when it is what you confront and learn by yourself, you will remember it and know how to decide and deal with it.
