Governments should introduce healthcare which prevents illness rather than cures it. how far do you agree with this statement?
Some people said that it is better for governments to introduce more healthcare that prevents illness than cure it. While I agree that preventing illness is important, I believe treatment is also necessary.
There are several reasons why I believe healthcare preventing policies are prior. First of all, people could save tons of money. Governments could introduce efficient campaigns which encourage people to exercise regularly, have a healthy lifestyle. If these campaigns become successful, people would have stronger immune systems to prevent some common diseases such as flu. Therefore, they do not need to buy medicine ogo to the hospital so often. Additionally, preventing illness also makes contributions to the decrease in the pressure on the medical system. For example, governments could control the spread of infectious diseases by publicizing the damaging consequences of these diseases or imposing fines, punishments to citizens who adhere to the laws. By doing so, they can curb the medical pressure and medical overload. These campaigns such as eating plenty of vegetables, fruits, giving up smoking also have sustainable advantages in the long-term.
However, developing medical treatment is also needed. Although the methods above are good, they can not prevent some diseases such as cancer. If governments only invest in prevention, it would lead to a lack of medical facilities. Traffic accidents and industrial accidents also need urgent healthcare and surgery. The shortage of healthcare workers or facilities could result in death.
In conclusion, I believe that governments should balance between prevention and treatment. However, they still need to provide more preventative healthcare rather than cure.
