LIVING IN A COUNTRY WHERE U HAVE TO SPEAK A FOREIGN LANGUAGE CAN CAUSE SOCIAL PROBLEMS, PRACTICAL PROBLEMS. TO WHAT EXTENT DO YOU DISAGREE OR AGREE?
It is often said that people who have to speak a foreign language in another country often face up with both social problems and practical problems. I agree with this view and will give my reasons below.
It is clear that the language barrier is one of the biggest social problems when people are living in a foreign environment. Each country has its distinct way of communication, if people could not understand or speak a foreign language when they come to another country, they might not communicate or practice with others. It could result in the feeling of being isolated, and they would find it boring quickly when they can not know what is happening around them. For example, students who can not understand a foreign language when they are studying abroad might struggle to join a school’s club, then they feel sad and disappointed.
As well as social problems, practical problems are also considered to be another drawback when living in another country. Perhaps people can speak a foreign language, but they could not understand comprehensively some academic conversations or specific contexts. For instance, people who just have moved into a foreign company might have difficulty in keeping up with colleges as complicated strategies. Hence, the productivity might decrease and they could fall behind others. This problem also leads to the rarity of career opportunities for people who live abroad.
In conclusion, I believe that living in a foreign country would have some disadvantages; thus, people should consider carefully before making the decision.
