Bullying is a big problem in many schools.
What do you think are the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?

Bullying has been a major issue nowadays, and it has affected a lot of children around the world. There are many reasons why a child becomes a bully and several actions can be done to prevent this from happening. In this essay, I will present some causes of bullying and possible solutions to address this problem.

First of all, the evidence suggests that children from dysfunctional families and those who suffered from bullying before tend to be bullies in school. A study published by American Journal of Pedeatrics last year surveyed a thousand children in the US and found out that those who have abusive parents were twice as likely to be reported with anti-social behaviours in schools, which include a lack of social belonging, engaging and fulfilling relationships with other children. Furthermore, researchers also discovered that up to 50% of those who were victims of bullying physically harmed other people later on in life. Evidently, these kinds of background explain why a person becomes a bully.

I believe that there are various countermeasures against this problem. One of which is counseling which involves face-to-face interaction with a problematic child and his parents guided by a competent psychiatrist. According to some experts, regular psychiatric consultation could positively change the personality trait of a bully, eliminating his anti-social characteristics. Secondly, proper guidance by both parents and teachers are essential as a preventive measure to bullying. Children should be monitored at all times, and any signs of abusive behaviour should immediately be corrected or reprimanded.

In conclusion, the background of a person is predictive and can help in identifying whether one will become a bully or not. Bullying is a problem and should be solved. Fortunately, there are a myriad of ways to solve this problem.
