Topic: Some people think governments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think governments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with?

Many countries in the world invest a significant amount of money in space exploration. Some people say that investigating space is waste of money while there are a variety of more practical issues such as water scarcity and starvation that need to be funded. Others argue that space exploration should be encouraged thanks to its tremendous benefits to humankind. In my opinion, despite numerous existing problems in our society, I agree that governments need to pay attention to study of space.

First of all, study of space has produced a myriad of benefits that improve the quality of life on Earth. One of the greatest achievements of human in astronomy is the success of launching satellites to outer space. This establishes the foundation for the progress of telecommunication industry, leading to the development of mobile phones, WIFI and the Internet that connects billions of people in the world.

Secondly, space exploration helps to ensure the survival of human on Earth. We are now familiar with watching weather forecast news every day. Data collected in weather forecasting programs is based on analyzing thousands of images captured from satellites around the Earth. This gives us relatively accurate expectations of abnormal weather phenomena as well as devastating disasters such as tsunami, earthquake or flood. As a result, local governments can propose appropriate and on-time solutions to reduce damage and death toll.

Last but not least, space discovery plays an important role in the future of human life. It is the fact that the Earth has been threatened by numerous issues including population explosion, climate change, and environmental degradation. Therefore, one of the most important missions that the scientific community pays much attention to is finding a new planet that can ensure the safety for human being. In reality, the US and some other countries such as China and Russia have been fostering the exploration of Mars and Moon for a long time to find out lives outside the Earth.

In conclusion, I believe that human benefits a lot from exploring space. Hence, space exploration programs need to be encouraged by governments.
