Motivation letter
Eindhoven University of Technology, Master's Degree,
Program in Innovation Management .
Dear Sir or Madam,
I would like to express my desire to study at the Eindhoven University of Technology during the autumn semester of 2010 and, in particular, my interest in applying for the Master Program in Innovation Management.
I am an Italian student with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Palermo. In 2009, I embraced the opportunity to do an internship with a TQM Consulting Group. During this period, I was involved in a Bachelor's thesis project which allowed me to deepen my understanding of how to Improve the quality of products, services and business processes, while increasing my interest, my knowledge and my analytical skills in the field of Business Sustainability and Innovation. I enjoy change and am able to assimilate quickly into new places while adapting easily to a variety of people. While studying for my degree, I took the opportunity to study abroad for one year as an Erasmus student, an experience that provided me with a greater understanding of how to face an international and multicultural environment, as well as giving me fluency both in speaking and writing English and Spanish.
My foremost career aspiration after graduating is to obtain employment as an Innovation Manager in the field of High-Technology. I come from Italy, a land that, in spite of its amazing potential in terms of Innovation and research, has lost its ability and willpower to tackle such increasingly present issues. My deep desire to work in the field of Innovation comes primarily from wanting to demonstrate my country's people potential and the awareness that these issues will in future have a dominant role at the international level. Thus, the Master Program would be an extremely valuable learning experience and an opportunity to carry my two passions in life - High technology and Innovation - even further.
Managing Innovation is a field that has always fascinated me and I believe that this Master Program will contribute to the evolution of my career, as it fits perfectly with my goals. From my studies at The Eindhoven University of Technology, I expect to receive an education that would allow me to develop my analytical and understanding skills. It would also give me the ability to evaluate the changes in businesses plus a greater awareness of innovation management which in turn would provide me with the tools necessary to transform research outputs into innovative products. I am sure that the core courses included in this Master Program will let me better understand how to develop solutions with scientific methods, gain insights into complex company problems, and recognize how to let changes in business proceed as efficiently and effectively as possible, with a view to maintaining quality and ethics standards in processes, services and products.
You are probably asking yourself how a business student could be able to tackle a program that requires a strong academic background in Engineering studies. Here is the answer. Firstly, many of the qualities that today are required to an Innovation manager, represent the essential qualities of a business manager, such as communication skills, creative thinking and a deep understanding of how to focus on new external or internal opportunities. As for me, nothing is better than challenge. Maybe it will not be easy but I will spend all my forces pointing at my success. So I believe that a highly developed motivation and the desire to pursue an international career in the field of Innovation Management make me a strong candidate for your Master Program. I am looking forward to the opportunity to study at the Eindhoven University of Technology, immersing myself in my studies and in the Flemish culture and language, thereby increasing my cultural awareness. Time spent in The Netherlands would bring long lasting transformations in all aspects of my life and help me attain my academic, personal and career goals in the global arena.
Sincerely,
Valentino Giudice
Thanks a lot!
