What is the consequence of universities maintaining traditional instructional methods?

Education plays a pivotal role in the development of a nation. Humans have created several new ways of teaching for a long time to improve higher education effectively. However, some universities want to maintain traditional teaching methods. This essay will discuss the consequences of colleges retaining conventional methods of education, such as the reduction of learners’ creation, causing the inconvenience to students and not providing enough knowledge for learners.

The first effect of keeping traditional teaching ways is that it can reduce the creation of young students. The traditional method emphasizes basic skills and relies mainly on textbooks because it towards student's memorization. Teachers educate students on the lessons in their textbooks and they do not create activities that help students to enrich their knowledge outside textbooks, so learners are unable to learn new things and they do not have opportunities to explore the new pieces of knowledge that are not in the schoolbooks. Therefore, their knowledge is restricted to the knowledge provided by the books and lecturers. For instance, students not only lack interest in the lectures but also feel bored to approach the new knowledge by themselves when they just go to universities to listen and memorize lecturers' lessons. As a result, students become more passive listeners and learners' creative powers are disappeared over time.

Another result of continuing to keep conventional instructional ways is that it may cause inconveniences to students. The strict timetable in colleges and universities makes it more difficult for students to learn because it is inflexible. Students must organize their regular classes based on the schedule and must follow the attendance. Students must go to school on time to attend school every day, so it can cause some inconveniences for some students. For example, learners living far from school have to spend more money on transportation and it also takes more time to go from their houses to universities, so it is hard for them to go to school on time every day.

Last but not least, maintaining old-fashioned instructional may not provide enough knowledge for students. The world is constantly changing and a new amount of information is released every day. It takes many years to renew textbooks once, so the information in these textbooks become outdated. If lecturers keep educating learners' knowledge in old-fashioned textbooks, students will not have enough knowledge and skills to utilize in their jobs and their lives in the future. In other words, if continue with conventional methods of teaching, universities will train their students who are not qualified to meet the requirement for companies.

In conclusion, colleges continuing to keep traditional educational ways can bring several aftermaths, including the depletion of students' creation, causing dissatisfaction to students and lack of information for the learner. With this learning method, it is no doubted that students are not provided enough knowledge and skills to satisfy the demand of their jobs.
