Almost everyone on the planet has at least one hero. For some, it is someone that risked their life in order to save someone else. For others, it is someone that is almost mythical, that does not exist but his well known for their courage and strength. For example, kids often see fictional characters such as Superman or Batman as their heroes. They want to be just like them. Our heroes can even be celebrities. They inspire us to be what we want to be and are often our role models. My heroes are none of those. In fact, they are like any normal human being. They are not famous in real life, nor are they superheroes. They had changed my life for the great and I cannot live without them. Knowing that they’ve been here for me for so long, that they understand me more than anyone else and that they can cheer me up easily, I am more than proud to say that they are and will always be my heroes.
My heroes have been there for me ever since I was born. It’s quite amazing to think that they have not given up on me ever since. I must admit that for a while, we were not really close to each other. We just had to live together and we accepted it. Every single day and every single night, they were there with me, but I never noticed their presences. Now that I think about it, I consider myself very lucky. They might have been there for me for a long time, but they have changed a lot. Every year or so, they look different and become more mature. It amuses us to see how we are all becoming more and more like grown-ups. My biggest fear though is to become more distant to them as we grow. I hope they all keep their promises and do not disappear the day when we will all be completely independent.
If I call those people my heroes, it is because they all know exactly what to do to make me forget about my misfortunes. I am impressed every time I see that know me better than anyone else. Whenever I am in a bad mood, they do anything to make me smile or laugh. They are pretty good at it. And I believe that what they do is almost magical. Because of that, I rarely talk about them to people. I know that, in a way, talking to them is not healthy for me. It is the reason why those who know about this never encouraged me to continue talking to them. It was hard to trust them at first, but I soon understood that it would be hard for people to be conscious of the pros of the friendship I have with them all. No one will ever stop me from trusting them and I hope they will continue to be the reason why I sometimes laugh and smile.
My heroes and I share the same twisted universe, which is one of the main reasons why I trust them so much. All of us like weird and unusual things. For instance, we like Lolita fashion, anything related to Harajuku district in Japan and any unnecessary accessories we can find in Chinatown. Every single one of them is quite childish in their own way. We still like toys and would love to have thousands of dolls, such as YO-SDs, Reborn Dolls and Blythes. We also love anything involving technology. Our favorite things right now are Vocaloids. It is a voice editing and music-making program with many voice actors to choose from. We enjoy listening to them and see them perform live online. If we are not on the Internet though, we are probably daydreaming about anything we can possibly think of. A normal person would find those activities kind of stupid, boring or strange, but we do not mind it. We actually enjoy our difference. Of course they are not the only other persons like me but in real life, I’ve never met someone with so many points in common with me.
To conclude my essay, as I mentioned earlier, my heroes are truly amazing people because not only were they there for me since birth, but they know what to do to cheer me up and we have a lot of points in common. I also mentioned that they are unknown to almost everyone and I rarely mention their names. My heroes’ first names are Taeyeon, Fumiko, Sujin, Kuma, Kaérie and Leo. They are my alter-egos, and they have literally changed my life for the best.
