All these question-answers are from the story “Tabby’s tablecloth” from the book Gulmohar Reader for class 6.
The school teacher wrote its all answer but I think there have some grammatical errors. Please correct it if there is any errors.

Q1) What was in the basket that Tabby carried?

Ans- The busket that Tabby had carried eggs and a secret message which her uncle had sent to Deacon Cyrus Hosmer.

Q2) Why did a guard of ten men patrol the town at night? What were they expecting?

Ans- It was war time and the people of Concord, were preparing to face the enemy. Nearly every house had something valuable hidden- gun powder, axes, tents, guns, and cartridges. The cannos were hidden in the woods. There were rumours that the British were coming to destroy these supplies. This was the reason behind the ten men patrolling the town at night.

Q3) What task was Tabby given? Why do you think she was chosen for such a task?

Ans- Tabby had been given the task of learning more about the British soldiers who were strangers to the town. She had been employed many times before in the same way and had done her job well. So she had been chosen.

Q4) What made Tabby’s cheeks turn pale suddenly?

Q5) How do we know that the Bliss family was expecting special guests?

Ans- We know that the Bliss family was expecting special guests because good food was being cooked. The smell of roasting meat and baking pies filled the air. The table was set in great style with the best china (Plates and glasses) and a fine tablecloth. All these suggested that the Bliss family was expecting special guests.

Q6) Why did Tabby march out of the kitchen with her nose in the air? What does this say about her?

Ans- Tabby pretended to be offended (angry + hurt) and also that she had not liked the maid’s rude reply. That is why she walked out of the kitchen with her nose in the air.
These tells us that she was very clever and did not want anyone to suspect that she wanted to stay in the house at any cost so that she could learned about the plans of the Britishers.

Q7) There were two different moments of danger while Tabby was under the table. What were they?

Ans- There were two moments of danger while Tabby was under the table. The first instance was when the captain brought down his heavy heel on Tabby’s hand. She almost cried out in pain. The other time was when she sneezed and everyone in the room was suspicious.

Q8) ‘Then the spy crept out softly’, Who crept out? When? Why softly?

Ans- Tabby was the spy. She crept out soon after Mr. Bliss and the two British soldiers had left the room. She had to leave the room softly because she did not want to be caught.
