Please comment on my TOEFL Independent Task

Some people believe that the Earth is being harmed (damaged) by human activity. Others feel that human activity makes the Earth a better place to live. What is your opinion? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

There is a question of whether human activities are harming the Earth or they are making the Earth a better place to live. While many hold the view that human activities, especially the exploitation of resources, only serve to damage the Earth, I believe they are making life easier for us.

Firstly, the building of roads and the invention of airplanes make it easier for us to travel from place to place. Unlike in the past, where people mostly stay in one place in their entire lives, we are now able to meet more people from around the world. This means we can make more friends and obtain more knowledge, which would make us - the human - happier and become smarter.

Secondly, the industrial and medical development creates more food and medicines for the human. Although the harnessing of the Earth's resources to produce foods and tablets does affect the environment. But the damage is insignificant compared to the benefit it brings to us. People no longer have to worry about what to eat, and poverty is gradually diminishing. Moreover, many diseases can now be cured in every corner of the world due to the abundance of once-rare medicines.

Another reason human activities are making the Earth a better place is it facilitates our lives by providing us with many useful types of equipment. The producing of all kinds of devices makes human lives more convenient than ever. For example, we have access to smartphones, which we can use to call our loved ones even if we are far apart. We also have washing machines that save us from the strenuous labor of washing clothes.

In conclusion, human activities are making life easier for us because they give us an abundance of foods and medicines. Moreover, the development of industry and technology gives us better means to travel. It also provides us with many helpful things that make our lives more comfortable.
