More and more people are migrating to cities in search of a better life, but city life can be extremely difficult. Explain some of the difficulties facing city dwellers. How can governments make urban life better for everybody?

Over the past few decades, there has been growing concern among policy makers over a sharp rise in the number of people migrating to big cities. The continual development of city population can lead to some big problems , and there are several possible solutions for solving them.

There are a number of difficulties that are caused by city migration. Firstly, the biggest one is traffic congestion. When the city population has mushroomed, the traffic system could suffer a high burden on the ability to accept this number of people, and streets are surely full of thousands of vehicles at the same time which exceed the volume of traffic. Therefore, people can get stuck in the traffic regularly when joining the overloaded roads. Another problem is various kinds of pollution resulting from the growth of urban migration. In fact, in big cities, due to the development of economy, there are a large number of industrial zones with millions of factories built, and this certainly results in the increasing need of laborers. Obviously, both everyday waste of city citizens and many pollutants in the forms of air, liquid and solid released by factories to the air, river and soil might potentially harm our environment seriously. Hence, all of these problems mentioned above should be eased urgently to save lives on our planet.

Many steps should be taken to deal with the problems created by migration. The first solution is that governments should build up more satellite cities around big cities which could prevent people from flocking to urban areas. In satellite cities, there may be enough good infrastructures such as universities, hospitals, companies that could meet all demands of people and at that time people have less reasons to leave their homelands. In addition, it is advisable that governments can invest more money in upgrading the facilities to alleviate the issue of traffic jams. For example, new large streets could be built to efficiently carry an increasing number of vehicles. Additionally, public transportation should be developed to reduce the number of individual vehicles on the roads, and city dwellers are encouraged to use public transport by receiving a subsidy from governments to reduce the cost of tickets.

In sum, the negative effects of city migration is more and more serious these days, and measures should be taken immediately to address the issues effectively unless we will pay the price for our lateness.
